Let’s be honest about our lives and the lives of those around us. When we go, not everyone will remember us as sunshine and roses. Why should our stories leave out the messy, awkward, or transformative moments? Without the hard times, how would we discover who we truly are? Pass those stories on — stories of growth, failure, weirdness, and redemption — so we can learn, laugh, and maybe even heal.

The Purpose

The purpose of The Honest Obituary is to celebrate the whole human experience: honesty, laughter, creativity, love, healing, and the dark alongside the light. These obituaries are a space for unfiltered feelings — from loathing to love, savage to heartfelt — all wrapped in a final farewell.

If you’re carrying a grudge, heartbreak, betrayal, or just a wild story, this is your space to let it go. We’ve all been hurt. We’ve all caused hurt. But we’re also gloriously human. So, let’s tell our truth — bring honesty, laughter, and celebration into the mix. Transform grief, pain, and fear into love, creation, and joy for what’s been and what’s to come.
